The Seventh Independent Realists Exhibition
|
It is this year for the seventh time that Museum Møhlmann organizes its annual Independent Realists Exhibition. Quite an achievement for a small private museum, run by the artist an his wife. And that without any budget or board, let alone a pr-manager, a general chairman or a head-attendant. Nevertheless, in the Dutch village Venhuizen Rob and Laura Møhlmann have managed to create a broad platform for contemporary realist art that in time has not only acquired national, but even international fame. Yet the biggest achievement consists of the art that is exhibited in the museum. The artists are all renowned men and women, who have remained loyal to their realistic idiom, developing a style that is individually unique. Towards the end of this summer, no fewer than 60 of them will exhibit about 300 works that are abundant proof of their skills. Although a rare phenomenon, in this exhibition quality and quantity go hand in hand. Moreover, on the occasion of the exhibition the book Realisten 2004 (hard cover, 192 pages) will be published; this will be the seventh volume in the steadily growing series of Realists. The museum is living proof of what Dutch Realism is famous for: catching reality unawares. All names are clickable: |
