Har Sanders
|
The summerexhibition of Museum Møhlmann will primarily be dedicated to Har Sanders (1929), who will be celebrating his 80th birthday this year. When one sees him, one has the impression to be dealing with somebody in his 60ies. But furthermore: he is still working. Every day. Thus he is steadily working to expand his oeuvre that already spans half a century. Har Sanders is a nationally known artist, whose work is to be found in in the collections of no fewer than 18 prominent Dutch museums, as well as in the collections of Queen Beatrix and of course in many corporate and private collections. One of his pièces de résistance is the 800 square meters ceiling of the theatre The Speelhuis in the town of Helmond. The whole of the enormous space was (as a trompe-l'oeil, one of the biggest in the Netherlands) painted by him as a billowing and pleated striped canvas. Less big, but by no means less famous are his dishcloths, shirts, doors, gratings and tiled mosaics. |

Besides that, he wrote countless letters in correspondences with well- known or less well-known Dutchmen, amongst who are the national Dutch writer Gerard Reve and the painter Kees Verwey.
In the exhibition about 70 works of Har Sanders will be on display. Moreover, on the occasion of the exhibition a short study of his work, written by his fellow-painted Rob Møhlmann, will be published. Apart from the special exhibition dedicated to Har Sanders there will also be a small but exquisite exhibition featuring works of five painters, two etchers and one sculptress. Graphic artist Han van Hagen will be present with a series of delightful etchings, made in the Philippines, whole his colleague Frâns Faber stayed closer to home for his inspiration. Frans Dingemanse shows a number of sophisticated watercolours, while René Jansen, Ruth van Royen, Hanneke de Jager and Ralph Douglas prove (in a decreasing order of the rough touch) their competence with oilpaint. Sculptress Marlies Heylmann is responsible for the spatial touch, with fine torsos, both in bronze and alabaster. Finally, Jelle Leek is the one who enlightens the whole exhibition with his recent works of sparkling glass. |
